smb3

Cleaning out a box of cds from University, I ran found a whole bunch of Nintendo ROMs. So I copied them over and went looking for a current Nintendo emulator and ended up with Nestopia. For the complete gaming feel, I plugged in my xbox 360 wired controller (which is a usb device) and after some fiddling with Nestopia, I was playing SMB3!

The controller needs some fine tuning but the overall experience was a throw back to the 8 bit world of the Nintendo Entertainment System. Good times.

gordonturner.ca downtime

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Sorry about the recent downtime, it was a result of Rogers changing their dhcp settings and the fact that the date on my firewall was off by a day(!).

I hadn’t noticed that the date was a problem, but the shorter dhcp leases highlighted the issue.

On the upside, I can add an rdate to my greenfrog create scripts to avoid this in the future :-)

Bell City Chase – Toronto

Friday, March 16th, 2007

I have entered the Bell City Chase again this year, after a ninth place finish in the second Toronto race in 2005, I am back.

Team Civet Cat is myself and Ana, with the support of Jeff and Pam (all people from work).

What is the Bell City Chase? It is an urban adventure race / scavenger hunt. The twist is that they allow cell phones and blackberrys (it is sponsored by Bell Canada after all). So the support crew can help us with questions and problems during the race.

(Bonus points if you get the Civet Cat reference.)
